Country Music in Los Angeles

As reported on Great American Country, you can now here country music in the entertainment capital.

November 29, 2006—Three months after Los Angeles' only country radio station switched to a pop format, country has made a comeback, at least on the AM dial. Steve Hochman reports in the Los Angeles Times that XSUR-AM just adopted a country format--and on Friday, KKGO-AM will also start carrying the programming. For now, that's a combination of nationally syndicated shows and automated segments, but after Jan. 1, the stations will offer a mix of local and national programming.

Jimmie Johnson Wins the Cup

Matt Kenseth can't do quite enough to overtake Johnson's 63 point lead. Although, he did finish sixth, it wasn't enough to take the points lead away from Johnson, who finished ninth. This is Johnson's first Nextel Cup win. Oh yeah, in case anybody cares, Greg Biffle took the first place win at the Miami Ford 400.

Kellie Pickler to get Sitcom on Fox

This should be interesting. By the end of Pickler on American Idol, I was tired of all the goofy naive humor. Is Fox really scrapping the barrel or what?

Variety reports that Fox is developing a half-hour sitcom revolving around "American Idol" finalist and new BNA recording artist, Kellie Pickler. Kellie will play a naive small-town Southern girl who discovers that her biological father is the state's well-respected governor. His presidential dreams are put in jeopardy, but the two form a father-daughter relationship that winds up helping his standing in the polls.

Harvick wins, Johnson's in first

Kevin Harvick wins at Phoenix. Jimmie Johnson brings home second putting 63 points up in the standings. Going into the last race in Miami, he has it all but won. It'll be his to loose at this point but, anything can happen. This weekend will be a hot one in Miami.

Jeff Gordon marries model Ingrid Vandebosch

On the same day as Britney and K-Fed have filed for divorce Jeff and Ingrid were married. Jon Edwards, Gordon's publicist, confirmed Wednesday that he wed Vandebosch on Tuesday, in a private ceremony in Mexico. The wedding was first reported by US Weekly. The couple had been dating since 2004 and were engaged in June. Good Luck to the newlyweds.

Stewart captures the win at Dickies 500

Tony Stewart becomes the twelveth new winner to win in twelve years at Texas. Stewart who is out of the points race is running great. He lead 278 of 339 laps and took home the win. Meanwhile, Johnson takes a 17 point lead over Kenseth with his 2nd place finish.

Nashville Star Judges Announced

Nashville Star announced the judges for Season 5, which starts Thursday, January 11. The panel includes, Randy Owen of Alabama, Blake Shelton and seasons three and four judge Anastasia Brown. Jewel will be hosting with Cowboy Troy, who returns as co-host on the show.
