Wrangler Pro Rodeo Summer Tour Finale

Omaha will be hopping this weekend for the finals of the Wrangler Summer Tour.

After a busy month that included four stops on the ProRodeo Summer Tour, 96 of the summer's top cowboys and cowgirls are making their way to Omaha, Neb., for this weekend's ProRodeo Summer Tour Finale.

Admittedly, the winner of each event gets a lot — there's the title of Finale champion, the crystal cup and of course, the big cash prizes. There's nearly $400,000 up for grabs. Story

Kevin Harvick Wins the Sylvania 300

Kevin Harvick is the man to beat after winning Sunday's Chase opener giving him his first career Cup points lead. Kevin Harvick saw a hole in front of him, between two cars. Driving through it would be risky, but he shoved his Chevrolet in between Denny Hamlin and Jeff Burton, forcing his way to the front and running away with the win Sunday at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Alcohol Use Boosts Income

Another study that backs up my recreational habits.

People who consume alcohol earn significantly more at their jobs than non-drinkers, according to a US study that highlighted "social capital" gained from drinking.

The study published in the Journal of Labor Research Thursday concluded that drinkers earn 10 to 14 percent more than teetotalers, and that men who drink socially bring home an additional seven percent in pay.

"Social drinkers are out networking, building relationships, and adding contacts to their BlackBerries that result in bigger paychecks."

See the whole story.

Kasey Kahne wins two in California

Winning both the Busch and Nextel Cup races, he had a superb weekend of driving. He did what he had to do to keep his hopes alive for the playoffs.

Kahne said,``You can't expect to win. You can't expect to lead the most laps just because you want to,'' he said. ``It's way too tough competition. But we just hit everything right this weekend.'' Kahne started by winning Saturday night's Busch Series event on the 2-mile oval, then led a race-high 132 of 250 laps Sunday on the way to his series-leading fifth victory of the season. He closed in on a spot in the Chase with one race remaining to get it done.Story

Labor Day Explained

I hope everybody has a great Labor Day. Enjoy honoring yourself!

The History of Labor Day from the USDOL.

Labor Day: How it Came About; What it Means

"Labor Day differs in every essential way from the other holidays of the year in any country," said Samuel Gompers, founder and longtime president of the American Federation of Labor. "All other holidays are in a more or less degree connected with conflicts and battles of man's prowess over man, of strife and discord for greed and power, of glories achieved by one nation over another. Labor Day...is devoted to no man, living or dead, to no sect, race, or nation."

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
