Johnson Wins at the Brickyard
Nextel Cup point leader Jimmie Johnson fell to 38th on lap 39 when he blew a tire, but he was able to nurse his car to pit road and weather a pit-road fuel fire. He took over the top spot at lap 117 and then charged from eighth to the lead with nine laps to go after a late-race restart. He became the second driver to win the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in the same season, joining Dale Jarrett who turned the trick in 1996.
