LONG POND, Pennsylvania (Ticker) - Pocono Raceway brings out the best in rookie Denny Hamlin.

Hamlin continued his success at the track Friday, winning the pole for the NASCAR Pennsylvania 500.

Driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Hamlin circled the 2 1/2-mile raceway in 52.995 seconds, clocking at a top speed of 169.827 miles per hour. He used a similar formula in last month's Pocono 500, when he used winning the pole as a springboard to his first career victory.
